Who we are

BUILT is a trading name of BUILT: Trusted By The Trade Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company number 14457476, of The Winchester, 7 Pickering Drive, Blackfordby, DE11 8GL. We build and run websites, local search services and BUILT Office for UK trade businesses.

The information we collect

  • Account and contact information: your name, business name, email address, phone number and postal address, collected when you enquire, sign up or talk to us.
  • Billing information: your payment history and subscription details. Card payments are handled by our payment provider, Stripe; we do not store your card number.
  • Communications: emails, messages, call notes and support conversations, so we can look after your account properly.
  • Website usage: analytics about how this website is used, such as pages visited, device type and approximate location.
  • Your business’s customer data: if you use a BUILT website or BUILT Office, your account holds information about your own customers, such as their names, contact details, jobs, quotes and invoices. That data is yours: you control it, and we process it on your behalf only to provide the service, as described in our terms.

How we use it, and our lawful bases

  • To provide the services you have bought (setting up and running your account, website and BUILT Office, billing, and support). Lawful basis: performance of a contract.
  • To run and improve our services (understanding how they are used, fixing problems, keeping them secure, and telling you about changes that affect your account). Lawful basis: our legitimate interests in running and improving our business.
  • To tell you about our products and offers where you have not objected. Lawful bases: legitimate interests or your consent, depending on the channel. You can opt out at any time by using the unsubscribe link or contacting us.
  • To meet our legal obligations (such as keeping accounting records). Lawful basis: legal obligation.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your information. We share it only with the service providers that help us run our business, such as hosting, payments, communications and analytics providers. We use trusted service providers, including AI‑powered tools, to help us deliver, improve and support our services, for example drafting communications, transcribing and organising notes, and keeping customer records tidy. These providers act under written contracts, only process data to provide their service to us, and are contractually prohibited from using your data to train their AI models.

A full, current list of our service providers is on our subprocessors page. We may also share information where the law requires it, or as part of a sale or reorganisation of our business.

International transfers

Some of our providers process data outside the UK, mainly in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by recognised safeguards: the UK Extension to the EU‑US Data Privacy Framework (the UK‑US Data Bridge), or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

How long we keep it

  • Account and billing records: for as long as you are a customer, and afterwards for up to six years, which we need for tax, accounting and legal purposes.
  • Your website content and BUILT Office data: kept for 60 days after your cancellation takes effect, during which we will help you export or transfer it, then deleted.
  • Enquiries that do not become customers: kept for up to two years from our last contact.

How we protect it

We use reputable providers, encryption in transit, access controls and monitoring to keep your information secure, and we limit access to the people who need it to do their job.

Cookies

This website uses cookies and similar technologies for analytics and advertising, provided by services such as Google Analytics, Meta and Microsoft Clarity, to understand how the site is used and to measure our advertising.
